The World Builders Wiki is the home of an ambitious project concieved by Peter Gaffney and launched in January 2008. The World Builders Wiki is dedicated entirely to creating a single, original Fantasy universe with a rich lore basis through use of the Wiki engine. Whilst other Wikis typically contain factual information about an existing subject, the World Builders Wiki is a haven for individuals who wish to express their own individual creativity and taste through a community project. As new content is added by users it is checked, edited and reformatted over time to fit in with already established lore in the universe.

The World Builders Wiki begins with a simple, solid lore basis lacking in detail. As new users are attracted to the project they add their own articles on a variety of subjects (from characters and races to kingdoms and their histories) or edit existing ones to include their own ideas and perspectives. Through the constant addition of new materials and reformating of old ones, a universe begins to take shape. Each new article improves the condition of the project on the whole, creating a detailed universe full of rich lore and original content over time.

The World Builders Wiki is truly a Wiki dedicated to building a strong community. It is our goal, first and foremost, to bring together creative minds from across the English-speaking world and allow them to contribute to a project that tests the limits of co-authoring. Individuals specialising in a number of fields can contribute effectively: writers, artists, musicians, linguists, geographers and many other types of individual can assist.

In addition to the factual creation of the world, the World Builders Wiki is also home to it's very own brand of Fanfiction - users are free to write stories about the world, even novelas. These stories may be entirely non-canonical or may detail confirmed events in established lore.
