[edit] The Universe

The Universe the World Builders Wiki is creating is known as Zalaconia, created by the Goddess Alleriana in a time which even the other Gods can barely remember. Zalaconia consists of five planes of existance: the Material, Astral, Divine, Celestial and Demonic planes. These are the Primary Planes. There are dozens of smaller planes, known as Secondary Planes, scattered throughout the fabric of the cosmos. Crossing the planes is possible, but requires a great deal of magical energy.

The individual nature of the planes varies - many of the Secondary Planes are reflections of others, identical in appearance but entirely unique in the nature of their existance. The Primary Planes are all entirely unique, with countless species inhabiting them. The Material Plane is the plane equivilent to our own in the real world - it is in many ways the central focus of the entire universe, with different powers vying for control of it. All though not as rich in magical energy as the other planes, it's physical and material capacity outweigh all other planes. The Gods in particular are active in the Material Plane.

[edit] Aller and Vertisan

Aller is one of the two worlds in the Material Plane which the Wiki is focused upon. It is a large world similar to Earth, comrpised of roughly 56% water. Unlike her sister world, Aller is comprised of only one super continent (named after the planet). Many species inhabitat Aller, including Humans. Aller has a slightly larger sister planet named Veritsan. Veritsan has two major continents and three smaller ones, but is inhabitated by a much wider variety of species compared to Aller.

The two worlds are linked by a series of portals scattered across both surfaces. The most powerful cities of both worlds have been built around the largest of the known portal structures, creating a thriving economy that allows nations to trade goods that are not found on the sister world. Several races have tried to construct vessels that would allow them to cross the gap without the use of portal magic, but only the Arks of the Demonic peoples have been able to traverse the void. Several of these Arks were salvaged and refurbished to allow travel but due to the length of the journey portal travel remains the most popular method of inter-planetary transport.

[edit] Races

The peoples of the Planes can be divided into categories depending on the Plane they originate from: Mortals, Astrals, Divines, Celestials and Demons. They are not races or species in their own right but members of a category tend to share certain features, be they physical or otherwise. The races of the Planes run into the hundreds - some are even indigenous to the Secondary Planes. In the Material plane classical races such as Human and Elf exist, but so do dozens of other far stranger beings. Mortal beings are typically physical beings above all else (hence the name of their plane) and, in spite of their apparent spiritual and magical weakness, often have a much greater effect on events in the universe than beings of the other planes.

The Divines are undoubtedly the most curious of the races. They have two major sub-types: Major Divine and Minor Divine. Major Divines are the Gods and Goddesses worshipped by beings of the other planes, whilst Minor Divines are the most powerful of their servants. Many Minor Divines have direct ties to Demons or Celestials and may be revered as lesser Gods by such beings. Each Major Divine is granted his or her own Secondary Plane, which exists on a similar level to the Divine Plane.

[edit] Nations and Cultures

True nations only exist on the Material Plane, all though the Demons have been known to build individual Kingdoms in their Plane. Human races in particular are talented at constructed great cities and Kingdoms and they are by far the most divided people in all the Planes. The most propserous of these Kingdoms is Licentia, a large Human nation on the primary continent of Aller ruled over the the Kennar bloodline as of 4359. Another major power in the affairs of the material plane is Icemeld, a kingdom of evil Elves dwelling in the frozen wastes of northern Aller under the rule of the cold High Queen Ranthem.
